After a somewhat difficult start to the week, I was feeling really bummed out being pregnant.
That’s when my amazing coworkers completely knocked my socks off with the most wonderful surprise – a baby shower attended by most of the ladies of the office.
I went in thinking about how grumbly I was feeling to be meeting for a last-minute holidays brainstorming session, but left feeling so completely loved and supported by this wonderful group of women. It was so incredibly humbling and completely lifted my spirits out of the grey I was feeling.
I was also mad impressed that the mastermind behind the whole affair was one of my closest coworkers, we admittedly is not quite sure about the whole idea of children herself, yet still managed to pull of a lovely fete.
Baby Wilson was outfitted with even more adorable teeny tiny clothes, including an extremely dapper pair of suede shoes – nicer than mama and papa’s even! Little one also amassed quite the library collection, featuring such classics as ‘Love You Forever’ and everyone’s favourite, ‘Grumpy Bird’ (which I joked could be either me or hubs).
One of the gals even made her first attempt at shaped cookies with an intricate piped icing design. They were so cute and everyone was thoroughly impressed.
Baby mama and daddy were also set with a nice meal for after baby – complete with wine and prosciutto – two things I have been sorely craving throughout this entire pregnancy. It also doesn’t hurt that there’s a gaggle of sitters ready and waiting to watch this bebe when (s)he finally arrives.
The power of women coming together is an awesome energy that can raise even the grumpiest bird out of the darkest hole. I am so thankful to have such wonderful women in my life, and so to you, my dear coworkers I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Your support means so much to me. We cannot wait for you to meet the newest addition to our family!
